A Do It Yourself Epoxy Pebblestone

By Anita Ortega

Doing something new to our homes sometimes make it worth staying home. We love redesigning and transferring things to different places to make it look new all the time. We always love it when guests or visitors love how cozy and inviting our home is. We surely love sharing decorating ideas like were professionals even when we are not.

One of the best part to start redesigning is the floor. It is the first thing that people see once they get in. Keeping it clean and attractive is a good way of re inviting guests. Epoxy pebblestone is a must choose adornment for your floor.

Here is something that will inspire you to give your floor a little shot of design. Pebble floors are absolutely fantastic. Here is how you can stick it by yourself.

First, make sure that your floor is clean. Sweep all kinds of dirt and debris with a broom and mop the surface with a neutral cleaner. Wait till the floor is dry. The reason for this is that, if the floor is dirty, chances are the pebbles will not stick firmly and will easily be detached.

You need to properly check if your floor has any cracks. Repair each crack you see using 2 epoxy primers which are properly mixed. If you have a wooden one, use a wooden putty to fix it. If your floor is cement you may use repair sealant injected to the the cracks. Make sure that you were able to mix it properly so you can get the best result.

Since you are done with cleaning and repairing, get your epoxy. Take a big bucket where you can mix it without spilling. Make sure that you already have 2 epoxy primer. Whenever you buy things like that, there is always a list of instructions from the manufacturer which you should follow. Read the steps properly and o everything perfectly as much as possible.

Now, pour the mixture to your desired area. If you have a paint roller you may use it so you can have an even amount of mixture in each part. One half gallon of this will be able to cover a 100 feet floor. Wait for an hour for it to dry.

Now mix another batch of two epoxy resin with the stones. Make sure to have only 100 pounds of pebbles in each gallon of your mixture. Immediately pour the mixture on your desired area after mixing. Use a trowel to create an equal layer of stones.

After 24 hours, recheck the pebbles. If there are any that was not stuck together with the others, use a broom to sweep it. Never thrown them as they can still be used in case you want to put another batch of pebbles in another area. To make sure that your pebbles are firmly attached, apply a two part component varnish to make it smooth and shiny. It is always best if it is smooth especially when someone walks on it barefooted. Most pebbles are 100 percent natural and it never fades. You do not have to worry on that but you always have to brush it with varnish to keep it shiny.
